OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2012. In 2012, the Government will not be introducing quotas for grain.  Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has assured in this during his meeting with the heads of representative offices of foreign companies operating in Ukraine.

"Anybody will not introduce any quotas," PM underlined. He also informed that today in Ukraine it is set up a sufficient stock of food wheat. From last year's record crop it has been exported 13.5 million tons of grain, of which 1.5 million tons - of food wheat. Thus, Ukraine is still plenty of food grains up to 2013.

According to Mykola Azarov, this year it is planned to gather in a normal, average cereal harvest despite the problematic issues related to weather conditions. "Even if we would be gather in 2012 nothing at all, and we are gathering a normal average crop, we should have been lived up to the harvest in 2013 easily," said Mykola Azarov.

Thus, the Prime Minister emphasized the introduction of quotas for grain in 2010 was forced to step by the Government because of insufficient amount of food grain in the country. "Could the Government to leave their country without food wheat? Had we not introduced quotas, it would have taken away at 100%, and we had to import," said Mykola Azarov, recalling the situation in 2003 when Ukraine was forced to import grain from abroad.
