OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2012. Estonian Air and 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Organising Committee Finland signed an agreement according to which Estonian Air becomes the National Partner and Partner Airline of the 2012 (and 2013) IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Helsinki, Finland, reported the press-centre of Estonian Air.

“The games in Helsinki and Stockholm are the biggest annual winter sport event in the world. We are happy be partners for such an event and to present Estonian Air brand to millions of people,” said Rauno Parras, Estonian Air Commercial Manager.

We want to link our brand to the positive atmosphere which this sport creates in Finland, Sweden; Latvia and Russia. These countries belong to our extended home market where we want to attract more passengers to fly to Tallinn and to take continuation flights on their journey onwards,” added Parras.

According to the agreement Estonian Air has been granted the right to use for promotional measures the Championships official emblems, logos and Official Mascot during the term of the Partner Contract.

The 2012 IIHF World Championship is hosted by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association (FIHA), which has established the Organising Committee responsible for the organization, staging and hosting the event.

In March and April, Estonian Air will also partner in a tour to promote the sport and the tournament in Finland and Estonia. During this time, the Hockey Tour will pass through 18 cities including Tallinn. The event will take place in a central area - such as a market square - in each of the participating cities.

The IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships are viewed by approximately 650 million people in 120 countries.
