OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2012. The Project Division of MCC Shenkan Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. (SKET) announced that, the first battle was won on the geotechnical investigation and surveying works for adaptable transformation (storage tank) project of Mohe-Daqing Pipeline, a key part along the Sino-Russian crude oil pipeline, reported the press-centre of MCC.

After being awarded with the contract, all the staff of Project Division of SKET arrived at Mohe on February 1, 2012. Mohe is renowned as the North Pole of China, featured by extremely tough weather conditions. The temperature is rated at -20~-28 in daytime, and drops to -35~-42 at night. Moreover there is no water source in the surrounding area, so that the project staff have to melt the snow into water for drilling purpose. As the accumulated snow on site is about 0.5m in thickness, with an altitude difference of 18m, the traction machinery can not be moved to the appointed drilling spot and has to be dragged by manual work. Against such extreme working conditions, all the project staff united in a concerted effort to jointly conquer the various difficulties, and thus ensured the project quality, safety and progress to be in compliance with the requirements.

As one of the key projects under the national energy strategy, the Sino-Russian crude oil pipeline originates in the Russian town of Skovorodino in the far-eastern Amur region, enters China at Mohe and terminates at Daqing City of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, with a total length of 1,030km. As a strategic energy passageway of China, this pipeline is of great importance to the national energy security. The First Station in Mohe is deemed to be an essential hub along the Sino-Russian pipeline.
