Moldova, Romania to Construct Chisinau Power Transmission Line
OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2012. The agreement about this was achieved between Vice-Premier, Minister of Economy of Moldova Valeriu Lazar and Minister of Economy, Trade and Business environment of Romania Nicolae Bode at the joint sitting of the governments of the two countries in Iasi.
The parties discussed a number of matters concerning bilateral cooperation in the area of electric power and natural gas. They noted that both: Moldova and Romania are aimed at solving the strategic goal to interconnect national gas transporting systems, which will strengthen energy security of the states and diversify sources and routes of natural gas deliveries. Drawing up the feasibility report to build the high-pressure gas pipeline Ungheni-Iasi has been completed recently and this project is to be implemented by the end of this year.
The ministers of economy also discussed projects on building high voltage power transmission lined Suceava-Balti and Falciu-Gotesti. These projects are aimed at interconnecting power system of Moldova to ENTSO-E, European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity. Transelectrica, Romanian company, has already invested means necessary for the construction of the high voltage lines on the territory of Romania and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2012 since Moldova has completed the works on its territory.
