OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2012. Within the events arranged to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA) the latter has announced about financing for the project of restoration of one of the cultural heritage monuments of the city of Sheki, reported the press-centre of IBA.

The IBA press service informs that International Bank of Azerbaijan OJSC finances restoration of one of the most important historical monuments of the unique heritage in Sheki - baths Abdul Salam Hamami, built in the late XIX century by patron of the arts Abdul Salam, whose name it bears to this day.

"The project includes restoration of two transparent gyumbazs (domes), rotundas of ceiling light, with restoration of load-bearing elements of the roof of the baths, maximum use of the old ceramic tiles with patina.

Style, ornaments and small architectural accents of that time will be retained on the outer walls of the facades. There will be traditional "shebeke" curious design on the windows and ensured their heat insulating protection. All windows and doors will be made on the sample and likeness of several kept windows and doors. Hard components and accessories will be kept as well. Internal space-planning decisions and design will be recreated in the style of the original form," the statement says.

Shaki City was included in the UNESCO world heritage list.

The IBA was founded in January 1992 and is the largest bank of Azerbaijan. Its main shareholder is the Government of Azerbaijan, which owns 50.2% of the shares. Another 49.8% of shares belong to private individuals and legal entities. In connection with the celebration of the 20th anniversary the IBA plans to hold this year a great deal of socially-oriented events in various fields.
