OREANDA-NEWS. March 09, 2012. Nordecon completed construction works of Kose wastewater treatment plant whose cost totalled 2.31 million euros without VAT.

“Despite a very short period of works and the cold winter last year that did not foster construction activities, we managed to complete the construction works of Kose wastewater treatment plant on time,” said Erkki Suurorg, a Board Member of Nordecon AS. “This was an object of a very busy construction schedule where the builder had to actually perform all the construction activities in one summer and we were successful in it.”

According to Erkki Suurorg, the preparatory works for constructing the wastewater treatment plant started in winter 2011 and the principal part of the construction activities was already completed in autumn the same year, which was followed by a successful testing period.

The project involved the establishment of a new and modern wastewater treatment plant in Kose and the liquidation of depreciated old treatment facilities. Today, all the wastewater in Kose is conducted to the newly completed treatment plant.

“Good things can arise only as a result of cooperation between all the parties – this was the case in Kose and we are very satisfied with the outcome,” said Margus Proos, manager of OЬ Kose Vesi. “As the contracting entity, we were glad to see that in the case of cooperation the builders did not try to constantly search for less expensive solutions to save costs, but they were also disposed to find a viable final solution. We are very thankful for the good work of the designers from Sweco Project AS, builders from Nordecon AS, and Arco Ehitus AS who performed work concerning the installation and start-up of technology.”

“From the technical side it is worth mentioning the establishment of the drum composting system meant for the treatment of sewage sludge in the plant which ensures, at the level required in law, the composting of sludge of a wastewater treatment plant causing environmental problems. Moreover, drum composting equipment does not provide a solution only to the treatment of sludge of the plant itself, but it also allows the receipt of the sludge of treatment plants located nearby, which is an excellent example about how it would be possible to use a complex and wider approach to wastewater treatment in different areas,” said Erkki Suurorg.

The contracting entity of the construction works was OЬ Kose Vesi and the supervisory authority was AS Infragate Eesti.
