OREANDA-NEWS. March 09, 2012. The state will attend to the problem of debts to citizens who are depositors of the USSR Sberbank, President Viktor Yanukovych said at today’s enlarged meeting of the Cabinet.

The President reminded that the previous Government stopped the program of returning depositors their USSR Sberbank savings with more than 6 million people unable to get the promised compensation of USD 1,000.

"The state must fulfill its obligations. Therefore, starting from June 1, until the end of the year, this part of the debt must be returned. I emphasize that everything must be done in a planned manner, the process must be organized carefully, so that there were no queues or chaos, like in 2008,” he said.

Viktor Yanukovych stressed that the Prime Minister, Vice Prime Minister for Social Affairs, and NBU Chairman will be personally responsible for organizing this work.
