OREANDA-NEWS. March 09, 2012. Mr. Anatoly Serdyukov, Russia’s Minister of Defence, and Mr. Sergei Korotkov, General Director of JSC Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG, have signed a contract on delivery of a batch of MiG-29K and the MiG-29KUB carrier-based fighters, reported the press-centre of UAC.

According to the terms of the contract, RAC MiG is to deliver20 MiG-29K and 4 MiG-29KUB fighters to the Russian Navy from 2013 to 2015.

The aircraft will be delivered in a new technical configuration that will meet requirements of the RF Ministry of Defence.

The Russian Defence Minister underlined: “The signing of the contract on delivery of these fighters is a real contribution to implementation of a long-term program aimed at re-equipment of the Russian armed forces. Following the Air Forces, the Navy’s Naval Aviation will receive advanced combat aircraft competitive with the best foreign analogues”.

Mr. Sergei Korotkov, General Director of RAC MiG, said that the signing of the state contract is the most significant result of the longstanding work on development of new fighters and setting up their serial production.

“In the mid-term, the MiG-29K and the aircraft developed on its basis will provide a sustainable load of the RAC MiG’s production capacities,”- CEO of RAC MiG noted.
