TISCO Received Prize for Science & Technology Progress
OREANDA-NEWS. March 07, 2012. The granting ceremony for National Prize for Science & Technology Progress was held in Beijing. The program of “Study and Practice of Raising Iron & Lowering Silicon (Impurity) for Chinese Produced Iron Concentrate” jointly conducted by TISCO, Changsha Mine Melting Institute and Anshan Steel Group was honored the second of 2011 National Prize for Science & Technology Progress, reported the press-centre of TISCO.
National Prize for Science & Technology Progress owns the highest honor among China’s science and technology field. It is divided into National Highest Prize for Science and Technology, National Natural Science Prize, National Technology Invention Prize, National Prize for Science & Technology Progress and P.R.China International Cooperating Prize in Science & Technology. Among the five prizes, National Prize for Science & Technology Progress is to encourage the Chinese citizen and organization for their contribution in the course of technology research, technology development, technology innovation, popularization and application of science and technology fruit, industrialization of high and new technology, as well as the innovative science and technology projects and programs.
For a long time, due to the lack of knowledge in benefication technology in iron ore, and the restrict in technology and equipment, we suffer the low grade of iron concentrate, and many steel enterprises have to import iron ore from other countries as raw material for steel-making. This kind of situation causes not only the unsalability of Chinese produced iron concentrate, the decline of iron ore production, and the unemployment of hundreds of thousands of iron ore workers, which will be greatly impact to the strategic position of society and state iron ore resources.
In order to make a downright improvement to such a situation, TISCO, Changsha Mine Melting Institute and Anshan Steel Group raise the concepts of “raising iron and lowering silicon (impurity)”, “cost caculation of all the procedures before iron-making” “maximum the group’s profit”, establish the system of “comprehensive evaluation of three elements (Fe, Si, Al) to determin the quality of iron concentrate”, and research various iron ore from different regions. Through several years’ study and practice, a great breakthrough is get in our iron ore benefication technology; obivious improvements are achieved in new technology, new equipment, new reagent and the industrial technology revamping of benefication plant; the technical problems in aspect of fine grain hematite which have been existed for a long time.
The successful application of the new technology of “raising iron and lowering silicon (impurity)” acturalizes the high efficient utilization of thousands of millions tons of iron mine, raise the quality of iron concentrate up to international adanced level, and boost the quality of domestic iron concentrate. The total profit tax increments from 2008 to 2010 is RMB 4.72 billion Yuan and the cast saving is RMB 598 million Yuan. Nowdays, the quality of iron concentrate produced in China has been equal to or above that imported from other countries, which ease the depending on imported iron ore and offer a stable support to the sustainable development of ore mine.
