Ukraine’s Yuzhny Port’s Traffic Volumes up 1%
OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. Cargo throughput at Yuzhny Port in January-February 2012 amounted to more than 3.5 million tons, up 1% over the same period last year, the Port Authority said.
The cargo volume growth was driven by a 21.5-percent increase year-on-year in ore pallets and iron ore (1,763,000 t, up 32% vs planned figures).
In the reporting period, the port handled 148 ships and 27,934 railcars.
State-owned Yuzhny Merchant Sea Port (Port Yuzhny) founded in 1978 is located on the northwest coast of the Black Sea, in the ice-free Small Adzhalyksk (Grygoryivsky) estuary, 30 km northeast of Odessa. The port is connected to the sea by a 3km-long, 14m-deep approach canal.
In 2011, cargo traffic at YMSP was 22,639,100 tons.
