Cargo Handling at Port Kavkaz Grows 5.22%
OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. Cargo throughput at the port of Kavkaz in January-February 2012 rose 5.22% from last year’s numbers to 679,460 tons, the Port Authority said.
The two-month exports volume increased by 5.77% to 594,330 tons, transshipments through offshore anchorage fell 3.2% to more than 51 thousand tons.
Shipments of imported goods rose by 9.65% to 34.09 thousand tons.
In the reporting period the number of calls decreased by 43% to 117 ships.
Port of Kavkaz is situated between the Azov and the Russian Black Sea coast. The 4.5m-deep harbor enables access of river boats. Sea-going ships are loaded / unloaded at offshore anchorage. The port specializes in handling dry bulk cargo (mineral fertilizer, ores concentrates and grain), general cargo, timber and containers. In 2011, cargo throughput at Port of Kavkaz was 8,261,000 tons versus 9.65 mln a year before.
