OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. Participation of the funds of NEFCO in implementation of the project of construction of sewage treatment facilities in Petrozavodsk was discussed at the meeting of mayor of Petrozavodsk Nikolay Levin and Consul of Petrozavodsk office of the Consulate General of Finland in St. Petersburg Anna-Kaisa Heikkinen on February, 24. Modernization of treatment facilities is scheduled as one the stages within the framework of the Complex program of reconstruction of water treatment works and sewage-purification facilities in the capital of the republic; these works will be financed from budgets of three levels and at the expense of the investor, Petrozavodsk Municipal Systems, Inc., as well as with mobilization of a grant and a credit from the Finnish Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO). The contract is expected to be signed soon.

"On its part, the town has carried out preparation for this project and is ready to accept the funds of the grant," – said mayor of Petrozavodsk Nikolay Levin. In turn, Anna-Kaisa Heikkinen has mentioned that Finland is also interested in the early implementation of the project, as it influences the environment of Lake Onega.

During the meeting the parties have also discussed the forthcoming trip of Petrozavodsk businessmen to Joensuu to exchange experience and meet with their Finnish colleagues. The business-mission to North Carelia of Finland is scheduled for March, 19-22. The project is organized by the Joensuu Regional Development Company, JOSEK Ltd, the Administration of Petrozavodsk urban district, Business-incubator of the RK, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the RK who invite companies and enterprises of Petrozavodsk and Karelia to participate in the business-mission with an opportunity to visit and establish partner relations in towns of Joensuu and Kitee. The trip program includes acquaintance to work of the Russian and Finnish customs, the Joensuu Regional Development Company, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of North Carelia, visiting enterprises, etc. A presentation on the subject of Import and Export Russia-Finland, Finland-Russia will be organized for participants of the trip. Organizers are in charge of paying Petrozavodsk - Joensuu - Petrozavodsk transport expenses, rendering assistance in search of business partners in North Carelia, organization of visits to enterprises, other organizational issues.
