OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. The Government is working out long-term program of forestry and wood industry. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said this at a meeting on anti-flood measures in the Carpathian area.

"Concerning forestry and wood processing industry and in particular the production of furniture, we are developing long-term program and we look forward to proposals from heads of regions in the Carpathian area. We must together consider all these issues and prepare solutions for the development of this sector over the next 10 years" - Mykola Azarov said.

At the same time PM informed that in the next few years logging will be increased, as most of Ukraine's forests planted after WWII, so forests require update plantations. In this context, Mykola Azarov stressed the need at most satisfy the domestic market with products of wood industry and furniture and export finished products, but not raw materials.

Moreover, Mykola Azarov stressed the need to start producing its own modern and energy efficient equipment for the woodworking industry, because there are sawmills in Ukraine, which were made in the 50's of last century.

Also according to Mykola Azarov we must at most use waste of woodworking industry for fuel production.
