Russian Railways Carried 68.5 mn Passengers in February, 2012
OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. According to the latest figures, 68.5 million passengers travelled on the infrastructure of Russian Railways in February 2012, a 7.7% increase over the same month last year. The number of long-distance passengers rose 0.9% to 6.5 million, while suburban commuters were up 8.5% to 62 million, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.
According to the latest figures, passenger turnover in February 2012 amounted to 7.5 billion passenger-kilometres, 2.6% more than in February last year.
During January-February 2012, 139.2 million passengers used the Russian Railways’ network, a 7.8% increase over the same period in 2011. Long-distance passenger numbers amounted to 15.6 million, down 0.1%, while suburban passenger numbers rose to 123.6 million, an increase of 8.8%.
Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways’ network in the first two months of 2012 rose by 2.5% compared to last year and amounted to 17.8 billion passenger-kilometres.
