Guerman Ainbinder Will Deal with DTEK’s Wind Power Development
OREANDA-NEWS. March 02, 2012. Guerman Ainbinderhas been appointed Director of Wind Power LLC, DTEK's subsidiary dealing with wind power development.
In 2005, Mr Ainbinder joined DTEK as Strategy and Corporate Development Director and in 2008 he was appointed DTEK’s Director for Business Development in charge of establishment and promotion of new businesses at the Company, particularly in the sphere of alternative energy.
DTEK’s portfolio of wind-energy projects amounts to around 1,200 MW. The Company plans to locate its generating capacities on the shore of the Sea of Azov in Donetsk and Zaporozhye regions, Ukraine. The Crimea, being the region of the highest wind potential in the country (up to 3700 MW) is also of great interest for DTEK. DTEK is currently carrying out wind monitoring and develops infrastructure to ensure full-fledged operation of future wind parks. In 2011 Wind Power started construction of the first 200 MW Botievo Wind Farm located in Zaporozhye region.
“Ukraine has a great potential for alternative energy but for now, the share of renewable energy resources in the country’s total energy balance is small. To date less than 1% of Ukraine’s natural potential of wind power is being used. According to our estimates, the general capacity of Ukrainian wind farms could reach 4 GW. I am sure that using best local and international expertise DTEK will make a big contribution to development of this area,” Guerman Ainbinder, Wind Power’s Director said.
“Shortage of conventional energy resources and environmental restrictions make the entire world search for alternative energy resources. By 2030, due to construction of hydro- and wind energy capacities their share in the world energy balance will grow to 30%. Appointment of one of DTEK’s most experienced top-managers to the position of the head of the wind energy division shows our confidence in the great potential of alternative energy for Ukrainian energy system,” said Maksym Timchenko, DTEK’s Chief Executive Officer.
