OREANDA-NEWS. March 02, 2012. Moldova ranks the 16th in the rating of biggest importers of the Russian gas, drawn up by experts of RIA Alaitics on the basis of the data provided by Gazprom. In 2011 our country purchased 3,1 bln. c.m. of the gas, that is 2,3% less than in 2010.

The rating is headed by Ukraine, which purchased about 40 bln. c.m. of gas. The 2nsd and the 3rd places went to Germany and Turkey, which bought 34 bln. and 26 bln. respectively. The ten top importers also include Belarus (20 bln.), Italy (17,08 bln.), Poland(10,26 bln.),France (9,53 bln.), the Great Britain(8,16 bln.), Czech Republic (7,59 bln.) and Hungary (6,25 bln.).

Among leaders by sales uplifts there are (+60% against 2010), Estonia (+51%), Turkey (+44%),Greece (+37%) and Italy (+31%). In 2011 sales of the Russian gas fell most of all in Serbia and Montenegro (-21%), Finland (-12%) and Czech Republic ( 11%). In total, 8 states reduced their purchases of the gas from Russia, with 22 countries increasing them.
