OREANDA-NEWS. March 01, 2012. The 22nd session of UNECE Working Party on Gas was held in Geneva under the chairmanship of Alexander Karasevich, Director General of OJSC Gazprom promgaz.

Representatives of international organizations, state administration bodies and major energy companies from UNECE member states, delegations of OJSC Gazprom and OJSC Gazprom promgaz took part in the work of the session.

The event included round-table meetings which discussed the topics of current state and prospects of LNG market development, underground gas storage in Europe and Central Asia, use of gas in transport in UNECE region.

As the result of the session, Bureau of the Working Party on Gas was elected for the next two years. Mr. Alexander Karasevich was re-elected as the Chairman of the Working Party. Mr. Francisco de la Flor Garcia –Director of regulation for Enagas company (Spain), Mr. Gilles-Henri Joffre – Deputy Technical Director of Technical Division for Storengy company (France), Mr. Tamas Korosi – Senior Leading Adviser of the Department for Natural Gas Supervision & Licensing, Energy Office (Hungary), Mr. Gheorghe Radu – Director of Investment and Technical Division for Romgaz company (Romania) were elected as Vice-chairmen.

OJSC Gazprom promgaz is the scientific center of OJSC Gazprom in the field of substantiation of regional energy policy, gasification, distribution and utilization of gas, exploitation of small deposits and resources of coal-bed methane.

The Working Party on Gas is the principal body of UNECE dealing with multilateral cooperation in the sphere of natural gas; it started activities in 1956. The Party is the expert forum of representatives from gas industry of European states, including all countries of the former Soviet Union. Besides, industry organizations from the USA, Canada and Israel take active participation in the work of the Party. In 2008, Alexander Karasevich, Director General of OJSC Gazprom promgaz, was elected as the Chairman of the Working Party on Gas.
