OREANDA-NEWS. March 01, 2012. TNK-BP increased the turnaround interval of its pumping equipment up to a record 615 days and attained the international standards, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

The company is implementing a long-term artificial lift efficiency improvement program, which includes analysis, assessment, and optimization of every stage in the service life of electrical submersible pump (ESP) units using the latest technologies and equipment.

TNK-BP uses artificial lift in about 16,000 wells, which is 98% of the company’s well stock. Artificial lift accounts for a considerable part of operating expenditures of the company. Every year, TNK-BP replaces over 15,000 subsurface equipment units and purchases approximately 5,500 electrical submersible pump units, over 10,000 km of ESP cable, and around 2,200 switchboards.

According to Francis Sommer, Senior Vice President, Operations and Technology, various methods of artificial lifting and transportation of products from wellheads to treatment units account for approximately 95% of the company’s annual production. “This is why the search for the most efficient equipment and technologies and continuous improvement of the artificial lift efficiency are among our highest priorities,” said he.
