Baosteel Holds Annual Operation Management Symposim

Recently with the theme of "Three Places Coordinate for Joint Development, Baosteel Stainless Steel Creates Excellent Performance", Stainless Steel Business Unit held the one day and a half annual operation management symposium, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.
Chairman Xu Lejiang of Group Corporation attended the symposium, and encouraged the cadres and employees of Stainless Steel Business Unit to be on their mettle, drop the load on their mind, creatively carry out the work to cope with the market change, and make unremitting efforts to build Baosteel Stainless into a stainless steel brand of global reputation. The managerial personnel of middle rank and above, the representatives of chief engineers and employees from Stainless Steel Business Unit head office, Baosteel Desheng and Ningbo Baoxin, totally over 150 peoples attended the operation and management symposium.
2011 is the year that Stainless Steel Business Unit worked strenuously for pioneering. Confronted with the severe operating situation, under the leadership of Group Corporation and Baosteel Co., Ltd., the cadres and employees of the three places made the concerted efforts to strengthen the product management, optimize product mix, and tap the potential of cost, so that the product manufacturing capability kept enhancing. In the meantime, the Business Unit also has large space for improvements in terms of profitability of carbon steel products and exertion of new product benefit.
In 2012, the situation of domestic stainless steel market is still severe. The domestic stainless steel capacity will increase further, and the oversupply will hardly change within a short term. In the meantime, the upstream raw material price will fluctuate as usual, directly "kidnaping" the price of stainless steel products.
Faced with the unfavorable situation, vice president of Baosteel Ltd. and president of Stainless Steel Business Unit Lou Dingbo defined the main thread for work-"Safety+profit" in 2012, and put forward the challenging overall target for operation. Stainless Steel Business Unit will check internally to benchmark for identifying the weakness and enhance its internal capability in accordance with the philosophy of origin point and the requirement for reverse pressing from market.
Through sorting out the key work direction for 2012, the 13 key operation tasks led by the leaders of Business Unit including improving the profitability of cold-rolled stainless steel products of the head office, lowering the comprehensive cost of stainless steel raw material procurement, enhancing the ratio of solid waste returning to production for utilization and lowering the energy cost, etc. have been launched, in a bid to strengthen the environmental management, tap the potential of cost and improve the product profitability of the Business unit, so as to ensure the realization of overall target for operation.
In the symposium, Xu Lejiang pointed out that Stainless Steel Business Unit has gone across a year of hardships and challenges. Baosteel's stainless steel business has formed its own soft strength in the developments up to now. This year, the challenge facing the Stainless Steel Business Unit is still formidable, so the managerial staff of stainless steel system must be full of confidence and position their own business and capability in a practical and realistic way. In face of difficulties, we shall not be burdened or underestimate our own capability, but be full of passion and in the status to do the work for the present in a down-to-earth way. Xu Lejiang required that the territory of Baosteel's stainless steel business keeps expanding, the work of the three places must be coordinated well and the synergetic work system of the three places must be perfected to tap the potentials in cost and quality, and enhance the operation and management capability of Baosteel's stainless steel system.
Talking about the stainless steel assets adjustment which is under way, Xu Lejiang emphasized that stainless steel assets adjustment is a key strategic decision made by Baosteel. Baosteel's confidence and determination to develop stainless steel remain unchanged, and stainless steel is still one of Baosteel's strategic products.
Assets adjustment is not abandonment, but a strategic adjustment with the aim of becoming powerful and excellent in the real sense. Without the insight far into the future, the current development can not be plotted, the cadres of stainless steel system must keep abreast of the situation, unify the understanding, steadily lead the employees to complete the strategic adjustment in an orderly way, and strive to realize the common development of employees and enterprises in the course of development and take it as the opportunity to build Baosteel stainless into a stainless steel brand of global reputation.
