OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2012. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is arriving for a two-day official visit to the Republic of Turkey today. The visit and top level talks are to be a new important step to strengthen and enhance the fruitful dialogue based on the indissoluble ties of friendship and brotherhood the Turkmen and Turkish peoples sincerely value.

Promoting relations with the nations that our country is bound with historical and cultural affinities is a key vector of the foreign policy strategy of neutral Turkmenistan aimed at facilitating constructive international cooperation in the interests of global wellbeing and prosperity. In this regard considerable significance is attached to cooperation with the Republic of Turkey initially based on equality, mutual respect and confidence.

The top level talks agenda is expected to focus on the wide spectrum of issues regarding intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation in priority spheres. It should be noted that it is the first overseas visit the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is paying in the capacity of the newly elected President of Turkmenistan. This fact also vividly testifies to the significance that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey attach to promoting friendly intergovernmental partnership.

The top level talks are expected to result in signing a number of important bilateral documents that will strengthen the firm regulatory framework of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation and consistently facilitate it.

The programme of the Turkmen leader’s official visit to the Republic of Turkey is rich in talks and meetings and includes a visit to Istanbul. This largest commercial, industrial and cultural centre of the country will host an exhibition of Turkmen commodities and the Turkmen-Turkish business forum. The leaders of Turkmenistan and Turkey are expected to attend the ceremony of opening the business forum.

The two states take consistent steps to promote humanitarian cooperation and strength scientific, educational and cultural contacts. Turkmen and Turkish scientists, cultural workers and artists participate in international conferences, art forums and cultural actions organized on a regular basis in Turkmenistan and Turkey.

Since the cultural aspect is an integral aspect of the programmes of bilateral top level visits. During the official visit to the Republic of Turkey the Turkmen leader will attend the ceremony of opening the Turkmenistan Park and inaugurating a monument to an outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fraghi in Ankara. This event will spotlight the commitment of our peoples to strengthening the ties friendship and brotherhood.

It should be said that this visit that coincides with the landmark date in the history of the intergovernmental dialogue, the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey will give powerful incentives to enhance fruitful bilateral cooperation through partnership in the mutual interests.
