Grodno Azot Reports Fetilizer Output up 1.7% in January, 2012

Ammonia carbamide production grew 1.5% to 69,000 tonnes, ammonia sulphate production increased 7.6% to 35,000 tonnes, carbamide production edged 0.8% to 82,700 tonnes.
Ammonia production totaled 91.9 million tonnes, down 0.5%, caprolactam – 11,900 tonnes, up 0.6%.
Grodno Chemical Fibre Plant, which was annexed to Grodno Azot in October 2011, produced 42,100 tonnes of chemical fibres and threads (down 4.1%), 45.4 million running metres of cord fabric (down 8.7%), 22,700 tonnes of polyamide (up 39.5%).
Commodity output in October totaled Br2.67 billion in fixed prices, 10.6% down.
Grodno Azot was set up in 1963 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2002. The Belarusian government holds a 99.97% stake. The annual capacity is estimated at 305,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid, 645,700 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers, 111,200 tonnes of caprolactam and 55,400 tonnes of methanol.
