Leading Italian Airline Will Operate in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. February 27, 2012. Representatives of the Moldovan government met Marco Rottino, the general manager for Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria of the leading Italian airline ALITALIA, the government's communication and press relations department has said.
ALITALIA intends to launch its activity on the Moldovan market in the summer of 2012, via a partnership with the Moldovan company Moldavian Airlines.
The regional representative of the ALITALIA company has confirmed that this will be possible only due to the Agreement on Common Aviation Area between the European Union and Moldova, due be signed in the spring of 2012.
The Italian airline, which is a member of the Sky Team alliance, plans to operate low-cost flights from/to Chisinau. Presently, ALITALIA's offers for two-way flights from Bucharest to Milano stand at 114 euros and from Bucharest to Rome, at 125 euros.
On 22 February, Marco Rottino will meet the government's secretary-general, Moldova's chief negotiator at the Common Aviation Area talks, Victor Bodiu, as well as representatives of the Transport and Road Infrastructure Ministry.
