OREANDA-NEWS.  February 22, 2012. During the visit to the United States by Xi Jinping entitled Vice-President of People’s Republic of China, Chongqing also dispatched economic and trade delegation to visit the United States together with Xi Jinping.

During the visit, the delegation signed strategic and friendly collaboration agreements with Los Angles of the United States. Chongqing also becomes one of provinces and cities that have the largest total amount of contracts signed by Vice-President Xi Jinping during his visit to the United States. Wang Yi entitled director of Chongqing Municipal Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Commission expresses that Chongqing will cooperate with Silicon Valley to “forge Chongqing into innovation center of western China”.

On February 16, 2012, follow-up delegation of Chongqing Municipal Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Commission held Informal Meeting on Economic and Trade Cooperation Between Chongqing and Los Angeles and Signing Ceremony. Chongqing and Los Angeles also signed an agreement on two-way investment cooperation project with total investment amount reaching to USD 1.39 billion, involving information technology, medical rehabilitation, food and beverage, automobile spare parts and other fields.

Chongqing also signed strategic and friendly collaboration agreements with Los Angeles on establishing Los Angeles trade and tourism office in Chongqing, selecting site in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area to set up “Sino-America Industrial Demonstration Park” and Los Angeles Cultural and Creative Industrial Demonstration Park, focusing on development of advanced manufacturing industry and high-end service industry, and proactively cultivating emerging industries including cultural and creative industry and digital entertainment industry.

Chongqing Municipal Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Commission said that “according to agreements signed between Chongqing and Los Angeles, direct air line from Chongqing to Los Angeles will be open”, which signifies that Chongqing citizens will do not have to change the flight any more when they fly from Chongqing to Los Angeles of the United States.
