OREANDA-NEWS.  February 21, 2012. Cargo traffic at the Port Vostochny (without Kozmino oil exports figures) in January 2012 grew by 16.2% from a year ago, to 1.95 million tons, The Vostochny Port Authority said.

The growth in cargo volume was driven by a 28.7-percent spike in container traffic to 33,139 TEUs and a 18.7-percent gain in exports of coal and coke, including charge and anthracite, to 1.6 million tons.
Shipments of crude oil fell by 4.6% year-on-year, to 52,200 tons.

Port Vostochny (East Port) is the year-round navigable and the deepest port of the Russian Far East region. Vostochny Port is located on the coast Japan Sea, 20 km from the terminus of Trans-Siberian Railroad - the city of Nakhodka. Vostochny port is able to accommodate 280-meter long, 40-meter wide vessels with draft up to 15.5 m. The port’s stevedore companies operate16 cargo berths, a few auxiliary berths at the terminals for handling coal, containers, fertilizer, methanol, timber, bulk and general cargo. In 2011, cargo throughput at Port Vostochny (excluding Kozmino’s figures) rose to 23.15 million tons from 20.34 million tons a year earlier.
