OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2012. A meeting of the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko with Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Taner Yildiz was held, during which was discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries in energy sector and was signed protocol on cooperation.

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko said that Ukraine and Turkey have many important common themes for cooperation. "These topics are important as for Turkey as for Ukraine. I am confident that those developments which we have should get the implementation for over the next year"- the Minister said.

"On example of the situation that occurred this winter, we hear how we can be helpful to each other as important to have good neighborly relations", - said Yuriy Boyko.

He expressed hope that this meeting will give new impetus to the development of relations between our countries in energy sector.

In turn, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Taner Yildiz thanked the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko for help of Ukrainian side during extreme cold weather when our state gave additional volumes of gas for Turkey from its own stores.

"Every country has its unique features and sharing these unique features allow us to create synergies" - Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey said.

The sides discussed the export of electricity, gas cooperation, implementation of the National Project LNG-terminal and other promising issues of bilateral cooperation in energy sector.

In addition, in the framework of the visit of Turkish delegation to Ukraine, headed by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Taner Yildiz and with participation of the leaders: Turkish company "BOTAS" Mr. F. Shenel and the company "EUAS" Mr. M. Bicher a protocol that regulates the mechanism of bilateral cooperation in the framework of joint energy projects was signed.

"Today, we carry out practical work on joint implementation of three projects in energy which provides an increasing of energy independence of Ukraine. These initiatives are a part of national projects of Ukraine" – head of the State Agency for Investment and management of national projects in Ukraine commented. He also met with Turkish delegation.
