KAMAZ Produces Two Millionth Truck
OREANDA-NEWS. February 16, 2012. Today, the two millionth truck has rolled off the conveyor of the automobile enterprise KAMAZ. The anniversary vehicle is a model of the line-up of heavy trucks featuring higher payload – KAMAZ-6522.
The all-wheel drive vehicle is equipped with a 16-speed gearbox made by the joint venture of KAMAZ and the German gearbox manufacturer – Zahnrad Fabrik (ZF). Besides, the truck has a low-consumption Common Rail 400 hp engine and double-tire wheels.
The anniversary vehicle came off the conveyor in the presence of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and General Director of “Russian Technologies” State Corporation Sergey Chemezov.
The Russian Prime Minister autographed the cab door of the anniversary KAMAZ saying that the plant had recovered to pre-crisis levels of production and attained a new level of quality. “The enterprise is the absolute leader in its sector both in Russia, and in the CIS countries. 40% of sales is unconditional success”, added Vladimir Putin.
To date, OJSC KAMAZ, part of “Russian Technologies” State Corporation, is the absolute leader in the class of heavy-duty trucks on the markets of the CIS countries. Each second 14-40 t GVW vehicle is produced by the Russian automobile plant.
Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ thanked many thousands of employees of the enterprise for their selfless labour which helped to overcome various difficulties which fell to its lot in the mid 90-ies.
KAMAZ started producing trucks in February 1976, and the millionth vehicle rolled off the conveyor 12 years later – in 1988. In 2011 the company sold over 45 thousand trucks showing a 40% YoY increase. The revenue of KAMAZ Group made RUB 106.3 billion.
