Recently, Baosteel holds environmental management seminar, reviews each unit's best practices in implementing the company's environmental management strategy in the previous stage and raises next stage's work promotion plan.The seminar makes clear that we should conscientiously implement the spirit of the annual work conference, further promote environmental management, and gradually establish Baosteel's competitiveness in steel new era from three aspects "green manufacturing, green products development , green industry development", the press-centre of Baosteel.

At the seminar, Baosteel Energy's Environmental Protection Department, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. Product Development Department, Group Corporation Planning and Development Department made speeches on  production processes, marketing links and industrial development.

Last year, the company has made new progress in promoting environmental management. Environmental business philosophy has gradually become the company's business action plan  and its economic and social benefits is gradually revealed.

Through the seminar, the participants recognize that environmental management is a business activity which integrates environmental protection into the whole process of business management and integrates environmental protection and business development into one. Baosteel's carrying out environmental management and achieving sustainable development is the policy and regulatory requirement, corporate social responsibility as well as the requirement of the market competition. Environmental friendly has gradually become a market access condition and the core element of the enterprise competition.Environmental management is a systematic project. At present, Baosteel is still in the initial stage of environmental management and it has a long way to go.

In the next stage, Baosteel steel industry unit will closely follow the theme of green manufacturing and eco-product design and establish environmental management system, carry out whole process of energy conservation and emission reduction, increase the advancement and application of environmental-friendly technology, ensure investment and construction in energy saving project and complete three-year (2010-2012) energy saving and emission reduction targets; It will promote the application of the product life cycle assessment and promote the implementation of green product marketing action program.The diversified industrial units should enhance competitiveness with environmental management as orientation. It should push forward the environmental management system transformation from the aspects of establishing environmental management system and developing special programs for environmental management, environmental management performance appraisal system and environmental accounting system.

They should enhance the sense of urgency, formulate a specific action plan combined with their actuality, carry out work actively and creatively, walk out a new road of sustainable development and make Baosteel occupy an invincible position in fierce market competition.

They ask that in green manufacturing, we should deepen the work of the "3 flows and 1 state", reduce costs and promote energy conservation; In the development of green products, we should continue to do the promotion of evaluation based on the LCA, increase product leading advantage, lead standard formulation; In the development of green industry, we should broaden the horizon of development, make bold exploration and practice based on market demand and create a new world. The company should form a concerted effort to seriously explore the building of organization and working mechanism for environmental management and environmental management performance evaluation system, so as to promote and protect the effective implementation of environment management strategy.
