OREANDA-NEWS. February 15, 2012. Beichuan Earthquake Memorial Museum under construction will use Baosteel products. Recently, Baosteel and Beichuan Earthquake Memorial Museum sign contracts for the supply of high strength corrosion resistant steel and they will be used for the memorial museum's wall decoration and construction.This is another cooperation following Baosteel's various ways of disaster assistance and post-disaster reconstruction and it is also the first time that such products are used for stadium and musuem construction in China, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

Beichuan Earthquake Memorial Museum is  the national key construction project in memorial of the "5.12" earthquake and an important part of the disaster hit region people's material and spiritual home reconstruction, carrying five functions: commemoration, exhibition, publicizing, education and research. The Memorial Museum is located at Renjiaping, Qushan County, Beichuan, where there is also the ruins of Beichuan Middle School. The project covers an area of 142,300 square meters and has a total investment of 230 million yuan. The construction starts by end of 2010 and is expected to complete by May 12 this year.

Beichuan Earthquake Memorial Museum building plan is named "cracks" and is designed by Shanghai Tongji University. The exhibition hall external walls are all of corrosion resistant steel plates. This soil color steel plates decoration contradicts with the roof green vegetation and shows the picture of earth being torn apart. At the same time, the strength of the steel plates is ensured.To this end, in the process of project construction, project owners visit domestic steel mills to seek the material which meets the requirements.

Meanwhile, Baosteel International Western Company, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. Product Development Department, Marketing Management Department, Sheets Sales Department, Baosteel Research Institute set up team, do technical exchanges with project owners and recommend and provide model material for experiment. Subsequently, according to the project owners' "50 years of life time" demand, they have several rounds of in-depth and detailed technical and business communication. As the customers don't have material using experience, Baosteel team gives warm advice and guidance on material welding and material selection and the customers are moved. The customers say that Baosteel products have excellent performance, the comprehensive service ability is strong and it is trustworthy.Ultimately, the customers select Baosteel's high strength corrosion resistant steel as decorative material.

It is reported that supply of nearly 1000 tons of producs will be completed in March.In the following construction process, Baosteel will send people to track application status and accumulate experience in widening such steel type's application field while providing services.
