OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2012. China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) signed a contract which will see them donate 100 liquefied natural gas (LNG) clean energy buses to Beijing, the Beijing Daily reports.

The contract was signed between the Beijing Municipal People's Government and CNPC, in which CNPC promised to donate the LNG clean energy buses during the first half of this year.

The city will gradually promote the use of LNG clean energy buses. The special bus line along the Chang'an Avenue will be put into operation before the end of February, and CNPC will construct the skid-mounted fueling stations.

The pollutant emissions from one regular bus are equivalent to the emissions given off by 50 cars. If the city's 15,000 buses are replaced by LNG vehicles, the emission reduction will be equivalent to that of 750,000 cars being taken off the road. The move could be greatly significant in improving the capital's atmospheric environment, reducing PM 2.5 emissions, the report says.
