OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2012. At the invitation of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales Charles, Baltic International Bank Council Chairperson Valeri Belokon attended the annual meeting of The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, which was held late in January at St James’ Palace in London, reported the press-centre of Baltic International Bank.

The conference was focused on the establishment of a sustainable society, and Prince Charles delivered an address to the gathered guests.

“We believe that sustainably planned, built and maintained communities improve the quality of life of everyone who’s part of them.  They help us to both live better at a local level and to start dealing with the broader global challenges of urbanisation and climate change,” the event’s organisers explained.

Valeri Belokon was appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment in 2010.  The work of the Foundation is aimed at supporting the construction of buildings which are visually beautiful, sustainable and safe for people and the planet.

Last year, in appreciation of Mr Belokon’s active contribution in pursuit of the ideas of sustainable development, the Foundation awarded him the high honour of being declared the Honorary Member for 2011.
