OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2012. Consultations with NGOs, which specialize in energy efficient technologies, were informative. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said this at a session of the Cabinet.

"The fact that people cooperate to address issue on more efficiently usage of energy, covering virtually all aspects of this multifaceted problem, shows that social demand for public policy of economical and efficient use of energy is formed" – Mykola Azarov noted, commenting yesterday's meeting with NGOs.

As PM stressed that it is obviously that people have understanding of the problem: "If we want to live in Europe, we should to spend as much energy per unit of production, efficiently treat to heat, water and electricity in our homes and just take care of environmental clean of energy production".

However, as the Prime Minister noted, in many ways non-governmental organizations have gone further in addressing this problem than government entities obliged to implement energy policy.

"I have three pages written during the meeting, noting right proposals and issues so expected by people from the Government. By the way, these comments and suggestions are designed as orders of the Prime Minister to relevant ministers" – the Head of the Government said.

Mykola Azarov is convinced that there are many competent experts in the field of energy efficient technologies in Ukraine and we are obliged to use their knowledge, experience and ideas. As an example, the Prime Minister cited the successful experience of some Ukrainian towns that have managed to reduce the cost of expensive natural gas and cheaper rates for the population. Thus, in Smila of Cherkasy region, due to attracting private investors it was saved gas and electricity - 15% - 40%, and in Zmiiv of Kharkiv region through the modernization of boiler it was 30% of gas saved and for 12% reduced tariff rate for the population. "There are practical solutions for small towns with limited budgets. There are solutions for large industrial centers - as Darnytsia Power Station in Kyiv" - Mykola Azarov said.

In his opinion, such meetings should be organized at the regional level. Accordingly, the Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Anatoliy Blyznyuk and heads of regional administrations to hold similar regional consultations and to work in all the practical decisions that have built businesses, public and experts.
