Domodedovo Airport to Invest over 2 Billion Rubles in IT-Projects
OREANDA-NEWS. February 6, 2012. The presentation of Moscow Domodedovo Airport "Future Technologies: DME IT-projects", held February 1 at the Technology Centre "Digital October", started outside the box: journalists and bloggers were welcomed by a holographic image of Victor Ponomarenko, Chief Officer for Information Technologies, Moscow Domodedovo Airport. After changing the holographic counterpart, the speaker presented the most interesting IT-projects of the airport, some of which are unique not only in
‘Today over 100 projects are under implementation at Domodedovo,’ - Victor Ponomarenko told the journalists. – ‘In 2011-2012, the airport’s total investment in IT infrastructure will be more than 2 billion rubles.’
Unconditional requirements for IT-projects of the airport are the innovation, reliability and customer focus. Thus, the project of digital video surveillance and video analytics is unique in the world in its technical features. The system includes 1,500 high-definition cameras and analyzes hundreds of scenarios, such as crossing the protected perimeter, detection of the belongings left or passengers crowding.
Smart Fence, another project, makes it possible to prevent undetected unauthorized entry in the airport’s airside. Smart Fence is equipped with motion and vibration sensors, CCTV cameras and infrared range detection system. Upon detection, the sensors transmit the signal on the screen of the operator indicating the place of violation, as well as providing video signals from the camera and thermal imager. The analytical system determines the degree of threat and generates further action.
In order to increase the fault-tolerance and disaster recovery of the airport’s IT-infrastructure a new data processing centre has been put in commission, two routing centres have been upgraded together with telecommunication facilities, which are responsible for data transmission. All these facilities are supplied by the first special category of power, which means connection of two power lines from independent substations operating on a standalone power source.
‘Such an architecture of the IT-infrastructure ensures the fail-free operation even in adverse conditions,’- said Victor Ponomarenko.
Information technology is one of the most important tools of the airport business. As the participants of the press conference could see, Domodedovo is using the most advanced technologies in its work and is implementing projects, some of which have no analogues in the world.
"Future Technologies: DME IT-projects" is a continuation of a series of presentations in which the largest airport in
