OREANDA-NEWS.  February 06, 2012. More than 2 million foreigners visited Azerbaijan over the past year.

The Ministry of Culture & Tourism of Azerbaijan reports that in 2006-11 the number of country’s hotels and hotel-type facilities grew by 78% up to 508.

"In 2011, the country was visited by over 2 million foreigners. In general, since 2006 the number of foreigners who visited Azerbaijan increased by 55%," the Ministry said.

The Culture & Tourism Ministry marks its six-year anniversary. The past year was declared the Year of Tourism in the country.
