Ukraine Realized Most Flexible Tariff Policy to Attract Transit Cargo
OREANDA-NEWS. February 02, 2012. Transit in sea trade ports of Ukraine increased for 20.8% - from 33 million tons in 2010 to 39.9 million tons in 2011 year. This was announced by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov during a press conference on the results of work in 2011.
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed that within the year the Ministry of Infrastructure conducted an active and purposeful work aimed at increasing the flow of transit to domestic ports. The most flexible tariff policy was realized to attract transit cargo traffic. According to Borys Kolesnikov, due to granting for transiter tariff preferences - discounts from 18% to 50% to chord limit rates of pay for the handling of transit cargo in Ukrainian ports – it was managed to retain existing and attract additional freight.
It was done a lot and to engage in domestic ports container cargo that are handled in the mode "transshipment."
The total amount of cargo handling by Ukrainian sea ports, up to 2011 amounted to 113.7 million tons of cargo – it is 5.6% more then in correspondent period of 2010 year.
