OREANDA-NEWS.  February 1, 2012.  President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Anifah Aman, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting, Mr. Anifah Aman conveyed the hearty greetings and best wishes on behalf of Prime Minister of Malaysia Mr. Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak emphasizing that his country attached considerable importance to mutually advantageous cooperation with Turkmenistan. In this context emphasis was placed on the significance of the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Malaysia in December last year that had added a new important chapter in the history of traditionally friendly bilateral relations.

Expressing the cordial greetings to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, the Turkmen leader emphasized with satisfaction that the Turkmen-Malaysian dialogue had been filled with a new content and offered new incentives due to the willingness of the two countries. Emphasizing that Turkmenistan intended to strengthen and enhance fruitful cooperation with Malaysia, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underscored the existing tremendous potential to consistently intensify effective interstate partnership. 
The sides exchanged views on priority aspects of interstate relations. Reaffirming that the two states were continuously committed to stepping up the constructive political dialogue, the President of Turkmenistan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia discussed the prospects for enhancing and diversifying further fruitful cooperation in the trade, economic and other field, including the fuel and energy sector where the two countries had accumulated the profound long-term experience of collaboration.

It was noted that today the vast opportunities to intensify contacts in the broad spectrum of partnership, particularly in the industrial, transport and communications, high tech and tourism sectors, were opened up today in the context of the ongoing ambitious infrastructure projects and large-scale programmes of reforms in Turkmenistan. In this context it was noted that the business circles of Malaysia sought to establish long-term cooperation with Turkmenistan that was conditioned by the intensive development of Turkmen market and the favourable investment climate in the country. The Turkmen leader and his guest underscored the importance of enhancing bilateral humanitarian contacts, including in the sphere of education and professional training, science and culture.

The issues regarding the opening of the Embassy of Malaysia to Turkmenistan in Ashgabat were discussed during the meeting. As is known, Malaysian side announced this decision during the talks between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mr. Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak held in the framework of the Turkmen leader’s state visit to this country.

Upon concluding the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia expressed belief that Turkmen-Malaysian relations initially built on equality, mutual respect and positive partnership and stepped up at the present stage would develop successfully for the benefit of the two friendly nations.
