OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2012. Moscow Domodedovo Airport sees the increase in the performance of our partner companies as a positive fact indeed, showing understanding and respect for the companies’ plans for further development in terms of expanding the route network, passenger capacity, replenishment of the fleet with new types of aircraft, etc.

Implementation of the plans may include both the consideration of new forms of cooperation with existing partners and the possible expansion of the partner range to work in different markets.

Operation of large aviation market players, to which Transaero belongs, from several airports within a metropolis is commonplace both internationally and nationally. Thus, the German carrier Lufthansa is operating flights from two London airports and the two airports of Moscow simultaneously. Armavia is flying from Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo; Belavia and Tatarstan - from Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo. To date, the airline "Transaero" is also operating flights from two airports in the Moscow Aviation Hub: Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo.

Considering possibilities to launch flights from all airports in Moscow, "Transaero" does not alter the status of the company and Domodedovo in respect of each other: they remain strategic partners. Domodedovo Airport is the base for the second largest air carrier in Russia. The airport hosts a whole complex of the land-based infrastructure of the company that is providing services to growing passenger traffic of the carrier: office buildings and premises in the area for placement of technical personnel and equipment, storage facilities, and it is planned to build a hangar for the maintenance of aircraft Boeing 747 type.

Domodedovo pays special attention to the maintenance of wide-body aircraft. To ensure this, a set of activities is implemented: it is planned to construct new aprons and renovate those already in operation, through which the number of aircraft parking areas and the carrying capacity of the existing artificial surface are increasing; in 2012, the project of reconstruction of Runway 1 will be completed, and construction of a new runway will be started. The passenger terminal takes its attention as well: this year its floor space will be more than doubled, compared with 2011, and will be 226,000 sq.m., and the construction of a new phase of the terminal will be continued as well. Moreover, construction and installation work is underway to expand the cargo terminal and build other infrastructure facilities*.

The program of Transaero Spring-Summer season 2012, claimed to be performed from Domodedovo, implies a significant increase in the number of flights compared with the same period last year, including those operated on wide-body aircraft of 747 and 777 type.

When planning further development, including improvement and expansion of the infrastructure component, Moscow Domodedovo Airport is constantly consulting with partners to determine the optimal parameters of program implementation with regard to the interests of the airlines.
