Low-Cost Airlines Carried Half Million Passengers in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. February 01, 2012. In 2011, the budgetary airlines have carried half a million passengers on the international regular flights operated to and from Ukrainian cities. This was announced by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov during a press conference on the results of work in 2011.
Last year, five low-cost airlines carried transportations to and from Ukraine: "Wizz Air Ukraine", "Wizz Air Hungary", "Air Arabia", "Fly Dubaiv", "Wind Jet". The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that two low-cost carriers - "Fly Dubai" and "Wind Jet" – entered the Ukrainian market in 2011. "We also began work with the Ryanair airline," said Borys Kolesnikov.
The Airline "Wizz Air Ukraine Airlines" operates regular flights within Ukraine and abroad. From the domestic flights - Kyiv-Simferopol, in the international air communication the budgetary airline carries on flights Kyiv - Dortmund - Kyiv, Kyiv - Cologne - Kyiv, Kyiv - Lubeck - Kyiv, Kyiv - Meminhen - Kyiv, Kyiv - Venice - Kyiv, Kyiv - Oslo (Torp ) - Kyiv, Kyiv - Katowice - Kyiv, Kyiv - Skavsta - Kyiv.
The foreign budgetary air carriers performing flights to / from Ukrainian cities: "Wizz Air Hungary" (London, UK), "Air Arabia" (Sharjah, UAE), "Fly Dubai" (Dubai, UAE), "Wind Jet" (Rimini, Italy).
The share of five low-cost airlines in total amounts of the international regular air transportation which are carried out through the airports of Ukraine amounted to 7%.
"The Ministry of Infrastructure is open to consider all applications from airlines performing low-cost transportations," said Borys Kolesnikov.
