Moldovan Agricultural Production Up by 4.6% in 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2012. The global agricultural production increased by 4.6 per cent in 2011 against 2010.
This was due to an increase in the vegetable production by 6.7 per cent, whereas the animal production saw a little leap of 0.4 per cent, according to data put out by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS).
The head of the BNS department for agriculture and environmental statistics, Elena Orlov, said that the most significant positive influence was due to the growth in the production of grapes, potatoes, sunflower, fruits, nuts, vegetables and cereals.
The moderate 0.4-per-cent growth in the animal production was due to a rise in the number of cattle and poultry (by 4.3 per cent).
As much as 32 per cent of the global agricultural production was produced by agricultural enterprises, 19 per cent by farms and 49 per cent by households.
