Russian Tall Ship Sets Sail from Vladivostok on Asia Voyage
OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2012. The Russian sailing vessel Pallada sets off today, January 27 from Vladivostok in Russia's Far East for an over three-month international trans-Pacific expedition.
During the expedition, the vessel’s crew of over 100 cadets from the university and other Far Eastern naval academies will visit China, Japan, Vietnam and South Korea and return to the home port of Vladivostok on May 5, 2012
The three-mast Pallada is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest sailing vessel in the world, with a speed exceeding 18 knots.
The sailing ship, the winner of many international festivals and races, was built in 1989 and has performed over 100 international trips since then. It has also been visited by many famous people, including Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
