Ukraine Steps Up Cooperation with OECD
OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2012. Ukraine has set a goal to become a full member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Volodymyr Pavlenko during a meeting of the Coordination Council for cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Volodymyr Pavlenko said that Ukraine favors modernization of the economy and wants to take rightful place on the world stage as a reliable trading partner and attractive object for investment. "Enhancing cooperation with the OECD which is observed, of course, is also so real step that brings us closer to best international standards and practices, as well as to European integration", - he stressed.
The Deputy Minister informed that the Investment Policy Review and Review of sectoral competitiveness strategy of Ukraine, containing analysis of the situation, problems and determines specific recommendations for improving public policy in these areas were prepared in 2011 year .
Volodymyr Pavlenko noted that the President of Ukraine, the Government and personally the First vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economic Development and Trade Andriy Klyuev paid special attention to improvement of investment climate of our state. Thus it was approved a number of legislatives acts which simplify entry and exit of businesses, doing business.
"Ukraine has already done much to bring its policies and legislation in line with the principles of the OECD. We believe that the OECD Investment Committee would support a formal appeal of Ukraine's accession to the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises", - Volodymyr Pavlenko said.
