OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2012. At the close of 2011, PwC Legal took part for the first time in the annual law firm rating conducted by Pravo.ru and published by Vedomosti. Two different statistical indicators were used in the rating: revenue and number of salaried employees, reported the press-centre of PwC.

The firms were rated according to data from the Rosstat, SPARK database, publications and media sources. In the Top 50 law firms by revenue, PwC Legal placed thirteenth; and in the top 50 by number of salaried employees, PwC Legal came in tenth.

Since ratings on revenue and number of salaried staff don't always help clients in picking their legal consultant, the more telling indicator is the client rating, for which the law firms were ranked by type of law (this year, there were 13 types). In this category, the ranking considered the quality and significance of the firms' projects. Given the intangible nature of these indicators, the firms were not ranked by number: the firms were organised alphabetically, but split into two groups. The first group contained the most successful firms, including PwC Legal whose legal practice was highly rated for tax law (the only law type for which we submitted).

Pravo.ru 300's law firm rating is the largest annual analysis of the Russian legal market. The methodology was developed by Pravo.ru taking into account the experience of the best international and Russian rating agencies, and with the participation of the 150 largest law firms in Russia.
