Share of Industrial Output in Uzbekistan GDP Reach 24.1%
OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2012. Share of industrial production in gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan grew from 14.2% in 2000 to 24.1% in 2011, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Uzbek leader said that the fact that share of industrial production in GDP grew from 14.2% in 2000 to 24.1% in 2011 is indicator of serious structural and quality changes.
Islam Karimov said that about 70% of total growth of industrial output fell to share of industries, which focus on production of goods with high added cost.
Uzbek head underlined that machinery and automobile (12.2%), chemistry and petrochemical industries, food industry (13.1%), construction materials industry (11.9%), pharmaceutical and furniture industries (18%) grew fast in 2011. He added that these industries became locomotives of the growth of economy of Uzbekistan.
At the same time, production of consumer goods in Uzbekistan rose by 11.2% in 2011 and four times compared to 2000.
As reported earlier, Uzbekistan’s industrial output increased by 6.3% in 2011.
