OREANDA-NEWS. January 26, 2012. The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) approved the alteration of the Implementation Schedule for the Energia Pecem Thermo Power Plant, as well as the start date provided by the Energy Power Purchase Agreement in the Regulated Market (CCEAR).

In a public meeting of the Executive Board held on January 24, Aneel approved a postponement of up to 60 days for the start of operations for the first plant?s turbine (360 MW), and up to 150 days for the second turbine (360 MW). The date from which both extensions begin is January 1, 2012.

Energia Pecem has an installed capacity of 720 MW, is located in the state of Ceara, northeastern Brazil, and is a 50:50 partnership between MPX and Energias do Brasil S.A. The plant sold 615 average MW in the A-5 auction held in October 2007, thus ensuring fixed revenues for a 15-year period, starting in 2012, of R\\$ 543.3 million (as of December 2011), which will be adjusted in accordance with the IPCA inflation index (Amplified Consumer Prices Index – IBGE).
