OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2012. In the end of 2011 Baltic Workboats AS has handed over two self-righting, all-weather Search and Rescue boats for freshly formed Ukrainian Centralized Sea SAR Coordination Centre.

Ordered in 2010, two fast, Patrol 150 type, SAR boats where built on schedule and are first BWB built specially dedicated SAR boats.

These boats will provide needed rescue capability of Ukraine on their responsibility area on Black Sea.

Based on proven hull design these boats impress with their speed and maneuverability. Recent sea trials demonstrated excellent maneuverability of the lightweight, all aluminum platforms, which achieved a maximum speed of more than 45 knots and are able to stop from full speed in 7 seconds.

Boats are designed and built to be self-righting. According to client demand boats have passed also pre delivery self-righting tests.

In addition to standard rescue equipment boats are equipped also with night vision cameras for night time search activities and in built board recesses for direct rescue from surface. Boat has towing capability of 1.5 ton

A central helm position allows excellent control for the helmsman to both boards. For better overview in rescue operations boat is also fitted with half-flybridge on aft part of wheelhouse. Boat is equipped to accommodate 16 rescued downstairs and one injured on stretcher in wheelhouse.

The 17-metre boats are built and equipped for all-weather SAR missions and will be strategically placed by the Ukrainian SAR authorities along the Ukrainian Black Sea coast.
