OMZ-Special Steels Launches Laser Scanning Equipment
OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2012. OMZ-Special Steels, part of OMZ Group, in the framework of the project “Reconstruction of automatic forging plant with 12,000 ton force” launched laser equipment (manufactured by Ferrotron, Germany) for monitoring parameters of curing forging in automated forging complex AKK 12000 ts. The project was implemented with the involvement of TS PLZEN (
The system is based on three-dimensional laser scanner with eye-safe radiation, specially designed to scan hot surfaces.
The scanner allows to scan the geometric dimensions of the product during forging, and display the profile in the cross section of working tools, chart of core forging and the temperature field of the product.
The system’s software compares three-dimensional model of forging curings in real time with a model (drawing) of future forgings and issues data of deviation from the drawing at any point on the surface, as well as suggestions for correcting the process.
The data is stored in the system, which allows holding a subsequent analysis of the technological process from the start of forging before its completion. The information on the current state of equipment and its faults, if any, is also displayed on operator’s screen.
The launch of the new system saves forging time by cutting manual marking of workpieces. Obtaining the necessary information on the process adjustment provides high precision of forging process.
