OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2012. According to findings of the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2011 motor transport companies carried 5 mln. 139,9 thou. t of cargo, which is 15,6% more than in 2010.

The biggest portion of cargo motor transportation fell to the municipality of Chisinau and made up 52,3%; then follow the municipality of Balti– 12%, the region of Singera – 9,7%, the region of Straseni – 4,5%, the region of Anenii Noi – 4,1%, the region of Taraclia – 2%, the regions of Causani and Ialoveni –1,8% each. In 2011 it was transported 4 mln. 552,7 thou. t of cargo by rail, that is 18,2% more than in 2010.

The biggest portion cargoes loaded at railway terminals fell to grain crops and floury products and made 36,1% (against 31,8% in 2010); ferrous metal and iron-and steel crap - 22,8% (18,6%), building materials and cement -16,4% (14,1%). Air cargo transportation made 1,6 thou. t, 23% up in 2011 as compared with 2010.

River cargo transportation was 149,1 thou. t (+ 17,2%). In December, 2011 cargo transportation in Moldova made up 728,7 tones, that is 29% less than in the previous month and 8,4% more than in December of 2010.
