UIA Expands Fleet with 20th Boeing-737 Aircraft
OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2012. As part of the program of fleet renewal and expansion, Ukraine International Airlines has expanded its fleet with Boeing 737-300 aircraft in January 2012. This is the 20th Boeing aircraft in the UIA fleet, reported the press-centre of UIA.
UIA has been operating Boeing aircraft since its foundation in 1992. The aircraft which has become jubilee – the 20th – Boeing to join the fleet of UIA got through official registration procedure and received UR-GBA tail number.
The new aircraft has a passenger capacity of 136 seats and both business and economy-class cabin seating.
“UIA long-term development strategy involves regular fleet renewal and enlargement, – noted Evgeniya Satska, UIA Corporate Press Secretary. – With the adoption of the new strategic model of a network carrier the fleet expansion program has become even more urgent. Providing two-way connections of almost all our flights between the West and the East in Kiev Boryspil International airport, the adjusted route map and flight schedule also require aircraft fleet expansion. Symbolically, the UIA 20th Boeing aircraft has joined our fleet in the 20th year of the airline’s operation on the aviation market. We believe this landmark event at the very beginning of our jubilee year will be the first one in a series of UIA numerous advances and achievements in 2012”.
UIA is the only Ukrainian carrier performing all kinds of Boeing aircraft maintenance and overhaul. Strong technical base allows the airline not only to maintain its own fleet, but also perform aircraft maintenance support services for other airlines.
