IFC to Invest in Sustainable Energy Sources in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2012. Members of IFC have announced this during the meeting with vice-premier of Moldova minister of economy Valeriu Lazar. According to Ana-Maria Mihaescu, head of the mission, MIC will participate as a shareholder in the project realized in Moldova by Renovatio, an international company.
Representatives of MIC appreciated business climate in Moldova in the field of renewable sources and favorable natural conditions for generation of wind energy. Valeriu Lazar in his turn promised complete administrative and political support for the project. This is the first such a project in the region and the corporation is to finance it by the IFC-InfraVentures, the global fund for development of infrastructure projects.
The fund with the budget of USD 100 mln. was established in 2009 to back by venture capital and to attract private capitals into public and public and private projects on development of infrastructure. Renovatio is an international group operating in the sphere of the sustainable sun and wind energy in Romania, Poland, Greece, Bulgaria, Italy and Portugal. It generates over 1000 mWt of the sun and wind powered energy.
