Tuapse CSP Throughput Climbs 2% to 19 mln Tons
OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2012. The volume of cargo handled at the terminals operated by JSC Tuapse Commercial Seaport (TCSP, TMTP) in 2011 grew by 2 percent year-on-year, to 19 million tons, the stevedore press service said.
Exports flow was up 2% from a year earlier, to 18.3 million tons. Shipments of crude oil rose 5 percent to 13.4 million tons, while coal handling decreased by 12% to 2.9 million tons. Grain exports from TCSP’s terminal soared threefold to 1.5 mln tons, which is attributed to grain exports ban lifted in the summer of 2011.
In 2011, the port of Tuapse saw a positive trend in the segment of inbound goods. The stevedore handled 650,000 tons of imported cargo, a 30-percent surge from 2010’s numbers. Shipments of raw sugar rose as much as 20% to 530,000 tons, the company statistics said.
In the reporting period, Tuapse CSP offloaded/loaded 908 cargo ships and 81,000 rail cars.
Tuapse Commercial Sea Port JSC (TMTP), founded in 1994, is the main stevedore company operating at one of the largest ports in Russia - the port of Tuapse. UCL Holding (65.06%) and Russian Government (25%) are major stockholders of TMTP JSC.
