Ukraine Reached GDP Growth at 5.2% in 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2012. According to preliminary data of State Statistics Service of Ukraine's gross domestic product in 2011 grew for 5.2%. The Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said this opening the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
"I want to welcome all on the fact that, according to preliminary data of State Statistics Committee, Ukraine's GDP in 2011 grew for 5.2%. This is the best result among all our neighbours. The GDP growth in EU countries is only preliminary 1.6%, and in CIS countries - 4.5%. In particular, in Russia - 4.2%" - the Prime Minister said.
Moreover, he said, it took place under the conditions of a global crisis and uncertainty of foreign markets. "So it's growth happened, as they say, no thanks, but in spite of adverse factors" - Mykola Azarov said, adding that economic growth was accompanied by a stable price situation: rise in prices and tariffs for the year amounted to only 4.6% and was lowest for the last eight years. But he said that the same rates were observed in Slovakia, Poland, and Russia over - 6.1%.
"That is, the results of Ukraine's economy last year was satisfactory. Results provide a good basis for continued economic growth this year ", - the Prime Minister concluded.
